WHAT IS CHIAROSCURO?
CHIAROSCURO
is a project promoted by the
"Centro Internazionale
del Libro Parlato -
International Centre of
Spoken Book"
to make art accessible to
the blind. The program uses tactile images reproducing
some of the paintings of the collection. The original picture
is reproduced in relief for tactile
scanning
using transparent resin and is accompanied by an audio-guide.
On the left: the original
painting Testa della Samaritana by Sebastiano Ricci and
the relief image.
The technique is also used to reproduce maps of churces, buildings
and naturalistic parks. The Town Museum of Belluno entered the
project with eight works in its exposition.
On the right, another instance of the technique: Testa di donna
from a fragment of a fresco by Pomponio Amalteo.
